HTC will roll-out their OTA Gingerbread update this June for the following device: Desire HD Desire Z Thunderbolt Desire Incredible S Gingerbread features has long been released( see below), but what I want to know are the changes that HTC added to thier Sense UI. Gingerbread User features -New on-screen keyboard. The standard keyboard has been greatly improved in Android 2.3, with faster input and more intuitive typing. Even cut-and-paste got a makeover. -Streamlined user interface. New color schemes and various UI changes and polish make Android more consistent and simpler to use. -Application and power management. Android 2.3 provides better insight into what is running in the background, how much memory and CPU time it is using, and even lets you kill misbehaving apps. Yes, after months of telling us we don’t need a task killer, they give us a task killer. Enjoy your chuckle, iPhone fans. -SIP Internet calling. Voice over IP is integrated directly into Android 2...

Researchers at Germany's University of Ulm discovered a hole that could allow a hacker to snoop or access calendars and contact data from an Android smartphone when connected to an unencrypted Wi-Fi network. Google spokesman said in a statement, "Today we're starting to roll out a fix which addresses a potential security flaw that could, under certain circumstances, allow a third-party access to data available in Calendar and Contacts, this fix requires no action from users and will roll out globally over the next few days." New versions of android, 2.3.4 for smartphones and 3.0 for tablets are not affected by the issue, but the fact remains that almost 99 percent of Android users are still using the older versions.  The problem exists on Google servers so it will will not be remedied by traditional software updates, likewise Android users wont have to take any actions on their smartphones to fix the issue.

Globe demoed their HSPA+ network at the heritage hotel in Pasay last April 27. As of now, the Globe 4G mobile technology has been deployed in 19 areas in Metro Manila, which covers Marikina, Quezon City, Makati, Pasay, Las Pinas, Taguig & Manila.  More areas will be covered by the end of year 2011.  HSPA+ is technically considered as 4G and up to 6 - 7 times faster than 3g. HSPA+ provides a speed of 84Mb/sec downlink and 22Mb of uplink, these are theoretical speed and real world speed of course will be lower.  Globe compared their HSPA+ access with other service providers including their Globe tattoo which runs on 3G network, below are the comparative results. Globe Tattoo – DL: 2.55 Mbps, UL: 0.34 Mbps Smart Bro – DL: 1.12 Mbps, UL: 0.34 Mbps Sun Broadband Wireless – DL: 0.83 Mbps, UL: 0.09 Mbps Globe HSPA+ – DL: 7.51 mbps; UL: 1.02 mbps As we can see, peak download bandwidth is only  about 7mbps (still much better compared to the existing speeds of cur...

Ipad2 was released today in the Philippines, I went to Power Mac Center in Megamall and some people were already queueing to try out the latest Ipad and buy on what appears to be limited units, if you don't have reservations with them then you can get it via the Apple online store but shipment may take from 1-2 weeks.  The Ipad2 boasts of a thinner, lighter, and faster performance with the same 10-hour battery life just like its predecessor.  It also has two cameras so you can make Facetime video calls and record HD movies. Ipad2 Features: 9.7-inch LED backlit display Dual-core A5 chip Front and back cameras 802.11 a/b/g/n Wi-Fi Bluetooth 2.1 + EDR technology 3G data services on Wi-Fi + 3G models Up to 10 hours battery life Pricing: Ipad2 with Wi-Fi 16GB - P23,990.00 32GB - P28,990.00 64GB - P33,990.00 Ipad2 with Wi-Fi + 3G 16GB - P30,990.00 32GB - P35,990.00 64GB - P40,990.00

HTC's new phone named HTC Sensation, previously named HTC pyramid is equipped with dual-core 1.2GHz Snapdragon processor and Android Gingerbread (2.3) with HTC sense 3.0, screen size is 4.3 inches (540x960 screen resolution) compared to Galaxy S2 who has only 480x800 resolution with the same screen size, the phone has a Super LCD screen. The device is 4g capable which promises download speed as fast as 14Mbps, thats a good news considering Globe and Smart already has a 4G implementation in the country.  Likewise, the screen is a gorilla glass which protects screen from scratches especially if your're used to putting your phone face down.  The phone comes with an 8 megapixel camera with dual LED flash. Looks very promising to me, I can't wait to actually play with a demo unit when it hits the store.  Below is the phone's specs from HTC website. Size:126.1mm x 65.4mm x 11.3mm 4.96" x 2.57" x 0.44" Weight:148 grams (5.22 ounces) with battery D...
